A YES vote on Measure L is a vote for a safe high school for our students.
Our District works hard to take care of our 50+ year-old high school with limited funding, but decades of wear and tear have resulted in serious safety concerns that must be addressed.
Gas lines, storm drains, sewer systems, and plumbing infrastructure at the high school are all failing. This has caused flooding, mold, sewage backups, and 17 roof leaks in the last year alone at Mountain Empire High School. Aging water and fire suppression systems force the school to close several times each year.
These issues directly affect our students’ ability to learn.
That is why we need Measure L. Updating our high school now will address basic safety needs for our students and will prevent costly delayed maintenance expenses.

Measure L Includes Strict Fiscal Safeguards:

All funds must be spent on our local schools and cannot be taken by the State
Annual independent audits and a citizens’ oversight committee will ensure funds are spent as promised
A detailed project list describing how bond funds will be used
No funds could be used for administrator salaries or pensions
